FAQ

Answers to the questions people ask most.

This page explains how Folddr works, where your data stays, what plans include, and how refunds work.

Quick facts

  • Local-first by design
  • Your file contents are not uploaded in the core workflow
  • Settings and metadata are stored in ~/.folddr/config.json
  • Personal and Teams plans are available (see the Pricing page)

What kind of folders is Folddr for?

Folddr is best for large folders you want to move while keeping the same original path available through a shortcut link (symlink).

Does Folddr upload my files?

No. Folddr is local-first, so file contents stay on your device in the core workflow.

Where does it store metadata?

Folddr stores settings and metadata in ~/.folddr/config.json and keeps managed folders under ~/.folddr/storage.

What if the folder is on a different drive?

Folddr uses a safe fallback move method so the action can still complete across different drives.

Why are there Windows-specific notes?

On Windows, creating symlinks may require Administrator permission or Developer Mode.

What is included in the free version?

The free plan includes manual selection, linking, restore, safe removal, diagnostics, a searchable links table, and cross-drive fallback handling.

What do paid plans add?

Paid plans add folder scan helpers, background monitoring, auto-link rules, schedules, and advanced analytics.

Are paid plans subscription-based?

Yes. Personal and Teams are subscription plans with monthly and yearly billing options.

What is the refund window?

New subscriptions have a 14-day first-payment refund window. Purchases through third-party stores follow that storefront's rules.
